Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, noted the contribution of the Chinese people to the victory in World War II during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on August 26.
"China and the USSR, being the main theaters of military operations in Asia and Europe, made an important contribution to the Victory in World War II," the press service of the State Duma quoted Volodin as saying.

Volodin also highly appreciated the meetings of the interparliamentary commission of the two countries. According to him, the legislative bodies of the Russian Federation and China are working closely together to implement various agreements.
Xi Jinping, in turn, noted the contribution of State Duma deputies and Volodin to the development of relations between China and Russia, as well as bilateral cooperation between the states.
"We should continue the traditional friendship between our countries, improve exchange and interaction between legislative bodies and in other areas," the Chinese president said.
