- The staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations began searching for four lost in the forest on Sakhalin
On Sakhalin, emergency workers and volunteers are searching for four people who went into the forest to collect wild plants. This was reported on August 26 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"Rescuers, together with employees of other departments and volunteers, are exploring the surroundings in the area of Mount Vaida in search of four people," the department said in a Telegram channel message.
It is specified that the missing went to the forest on August 23 to collect wild plants and did not return. More than 20 people and six pieces of equipment, including dog training and drones, are searching for them.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region told Izvestia that a 15-year-old teenager was among the missing. It is also noted that the search operations are complicated by low clouds and thick fog.
On August 24, Konstantin Istomin, the head of the Kurilsky Municipal District of the Sakhalin Region, reported the disappearance of a tour group of 10 people. It was clarified that the tourist group did not get in touch in the area of the Baransky volcano. Later, investigators began checking on the disappearance of the group.
Later it became known that the tour group was not registered. It was assumed that she could have "taken a wrong turn" due to very heavy fog. Later, the Mi-8 helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations went in search of the missing. The next day, the band members were found. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, medical assistance to tourists is not required.
