Serbian film director Emir Kusturica told Izvestia on August 25 at Moscow Film Week that Russian literature is "the largest in the world."

"For me, Russian literature is the greatest literature in the world," he said.

In addition, Kusturica, during a conversation about his new film "Crime and Punishment", in which actor Yura Borisov will play, added that Russian literature is "the best basis for an author" who did not work on the adaptation of novels.

He also noted Borisov's abilities and stressed that the actor is capable of playing absolutely any role. The director called the Russian one of the most important talents in Europe.

Earlier that day, Izvestia reported on the arrival of world stars at the Moscow International Film Week, which takes place in the capital from August 23 to 27. Mark Dacascos, a 60-year-old actor and martial artist, was one of the visitors to the event, and director Woody Allen also made a video call from home.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
