Olga Karaseva, an ambulance paramedic, told us what to do if a child has a high fever.

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Monday, August 25, the expert noted that high fever alone is not always a reason to call an ambulance. If it is below 38.5 degrees, it is not knocked down — this is a natural reaction of the body. At a higher temperature, you can give an antipyretic (paracetamol, nurofen and other remedies), and if there is no effect after half an hour, try another remedy. Physical methods also help: wiping with cold water or a towel. At the same time, the child should not be wrapped up, informs 360.ru .

The doctor stressed that urgent help is needed for dangerous symptoms: fibrillation in children, laryngeal stenosis (shortness of breath, "barking" cough, hoarseness), signs of meningitis (severe headache, vomiting, photophobia), as well as dehydration or shortness of breath at any age. In such cases, you need to call an ambulance immediately.

According to her, the temperature often takes a back seat compared to more severe calls, so without threatening signs it is better to call a doctor at home or go to the emergency department. Karaseva advised not to panic and to assess the situation soberly: high fever requires attention, but not always hospitalization.

On August 24, pediatrician Marina Hokonova spoke about the safe reduction of the child's temperature. According to her, it is worth using ibuprofen and paracetamol, strictly calculating the dosage according to the child's weight: 10 mg of ibuprofen or 15 mg of paracetamol per kilogram. If the child is active, you can not use antipyretics even at 38.5 degrees on the thermometer, writes RT.

Earlier, general practitioner Kirill Veretennikov warned that treatment with aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce fever could cause sleep disorders and insomnia. In an interview with the Moscow city News agency, he said that if you have a cold, it is preferable to use paracetamol to lower your temperature, but before that you should consult a specialist.

Prior to this, epidemiologist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko listed the symptoms of influenza in children. According to him, the main signs of influenza in children are high fever (38-40 degrees), muscle aches, pain in the frontal part of the head, weakness, chills, and sometimes also vomiting and diarrhea.
