- An eyewitness to the fall of tourists from a zipline in the Samara region told about the incident
Tourists safely rode back and forth on a zipline several times in Kinel, Samara region, before the cable broke during the next shipment. Lyudmila Selina, an eyewitness, told Izvestia about this.
"It's just, you know, the rope went in front of my eyes and then they shouted that they had fallen. We went there to ride, I have four, three adults were already, roughly speaking, equipped. And my daughter was standing in her gear. We were just waiting in line. <...> Everyone was positive. Nothing foreshadowed at all what would happen there," Selina explained.
According to her, the cable break shocked everyone present.
"The children were hysterical, we had two minors, and one was five years old. Naturally, no one from our family (the three of us, three sisters, a son—in-law, my brother and three children) would even go to closely similar events in life anymore," Lyudmila emphasized.
Her sister, who also witnessed the death of tourists, added that no one signed any documents before the ride, the payment to the organizers was transferred to a card, and inexperienced girls put on the equipment.
"We signed up there two weeks in advance. That is, their demand is very huge and the tariff is not small. We gave away almost 12 thousand, probably. But then, however, the money was immediately returned. There is no agreement, there is nothing, no agreement, no checks, nothing — just money transfers and that's it," the woman said.
Earlier in the day, two tourists died in a fall from a zip line in Kinel, Samara region. During the descent, the rope broke, and the tourists fell from a great height, suffering life-threatening injuries. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
