At the second BRICS Traditional Values Forum, which will be held on September 15-17 at the Brazilian National Congress, a unique international volunteer assistance program for children of the BRICS countries who have experienced traumatic experiences will be presented for the first time. Dmitry Kuznetsov, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and curator of the Volunteers of the World project, told Izvestia about the launch of this initiative on August 25.

"I hope our plans will receive support. The UN has declared next year the year of the volunteer, and our initiative will contribute to the creation of a common humanitarian space for the BRICS countries. The volunteers of our countries have a lot to learn from each other in order to bring even more benefits to those in need," said Kuznetsov.

The initiative will bring together specialists and volunteers from Russia, Brazil, India, and Ethiopia who work with children and adolescents facing the consequences of armed conflict, poverty, violence, and the loss of loved ones. According to the organizers, the key objective of the program is to share effective care practices and jointly develop new approaches to support children with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

During 2026, the project participants will conduct a series of exchange visits, organize joint educational and cultural events for children, and prepare methodological materials that will be available to specialists around the world.

The second BRICS Forum "Traditional Values" will become a platform for coordinating the prospects for the development of international volunteerism and strengthening intercultural cooperation.

On July 5, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that all BRICS members supported the creation of a guarantee mechanism to increase investments in the organization's countries. According to him, many countries currently have development institutions that guarantee loans for large infrastructure projects. He added that it is planned to provide such guarantees for bank loans in the BRICS space under the auspices of the New Development Bank.
