UK opened criminal case after explosion on tanker in Chukotka
A criminal case has been opened in the Chukotka Autonomous Region after an explosion of flammable liquid vapors on a tanker in the port of Anadyr, as a result of which two crew members were injured. This was announced on August 25 by the press service of the Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
According to the investigation, after unloading fuel on a ship that was returning along the Anadyr River to the port of the same name, a fire broke out. The injured were evacuated by an air ambulance helicopter to a medical facility.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during other work that negligently caused serious harm to health")," the department said.
Earlier that day, the press service of the port of Anadyr reported that two people were injured in an explosion of flammable liquid vapors on the small tanker Onemen in Chukotka. It was clarified that after the explosion, a fire started on a small cargo ship. The tanker's captain and a trainee sailor were among the injured.
