Four new species of insects have been identified in the Khabarovsk Territory

Entomologists conducted an expedition to the V.K. Arsenyev Anyuisky National Park in the Khabarovsk Territory for the purpose of insect census. During the study, four species new to the region were discovered.

Scientists were mainly interested in moths and ground beetles. In addition, the researchers collected weevil beetles, syrphid flies, deadworms and other insects. The work was carried out on a site of more than 50 km from the village of Arsenievo to the Kartanga River.

More than 150 species of ground beetles were collected in two weeks from the pilaf of the Komsomolsky Nature Reserve of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Zapovednoe Priamurye, entomologist Olga Kuberskaya. 21 species turned out to be new to the fauna of the national park, four more species were first recorded in the Khabarovsk Territory. In addition, more than 20 new species of butterflies have been identified for the national park. This is reported by IA AmurMedia.

Anyui National Park was established in 2007 in order to preserve the unique natural complexes and ethnic groups of local peoples. It is located on the western macroslope of the central part of the Sikhote-Alin range. The park is rich in flora and fauna. The territory is home to Amur tigers, Himalayan bears, and Far Eastern turtles.
