Tourists complained about the invasion of jellyfish in the Sea of Azov
Tourists and residents of the Azov coast of the Krasnodar Territory reported a large-scale accumulation of jellyfish. The abundance of invertebrates has become a hindrance to bathers.
The most difficult situation is in the Temryuk district. In the vicinity of the village of Kuchugury and the village of Azovskaya, swimming is almost impossible, as the seashore is literally strewn with thousands of jellyfish that washed ashore. KrasnodarMedia news agency writes about this.
In the area of Taganrog Bay and off the coast of Dolzhanskaya village, the situation is favorable for swimming. Experts explain that the concentration of jellyfish can be variable and depends on meteorological conditions, including the direction and strength of the wind. Waves can drive masses of jellyfish to the shore or, conversely, carry them out to sea.
Last week, a massive accumulation of rootworm jellyfish was detected in the Kerch Strait. Tens of thousands of invertebrates drifted into a small harbor near the ferry crossing. Rootworm jellyfish have stinging cells and can leave burns upon contact.
