Hundreds of Russian tourists stranded in Hainan due to typhoon Kajiki
Russian tourists are stuck on the island of Hainan, located in southern China, due to the powerful typhoon Kajiki. This was announced on August 25 by Ivan Rymar, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou.
"At the moment, there are about 600 people in Sanya who have not flown out in the last 24 hours. These are such destinations as Ufa, Moscow, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok. These flights were delayed," Rymar told TASS.
All the tourists who could not return were accommodated in hotels. The Consulate General has not received any complaints about flight delays.
According to the Vice consul, Russian tourists may have the opportunity to return home tonight or tomorrow morning as weather conditions improve.
Earlier in the day, tens of thousands of residents were evacuated from several areas of Vietnam due to the approach of the powerful typhoon Kajiki. The authorities have mobilized more than 16,500 soldiers to assist in evacuation and search and rescue operations. It is expected that as a result of the typhoon, some buildings may be damaged, and some may even collapse, as the wind strength will be about 12-14 points.
