A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Vostok group of troops liberated the village of Zaporizhskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the actions of Russian military personnel, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 240 militants, a tank, four armored combat vehicles, nine vehicles, four field artillery pieces, including a 155 mm Paladin self-propelled artillery system manufactured by the United States, and a warehouse of materiel.

In addition, the Zapad group of forces improved the tactical situation, and units of the Southern Group of Forces occupied more advantageous lines and positions and defeated the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the DPR.

"Units of the North group of forces defeated the manpower and equipment of two mechanized, three amphibious assault brigades, two assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the air defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Ivolzhanskoe, Pavlovka, Kondratovka, Yunakovka, Yastrebinoye of the Sumy region and the city of Sumy. Units of the mechanized and motorized infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in the Kharkov direction," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of operational and tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated drone assembly, storage and launch sites, ammunition depots, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 139 districts.

In turn, air defense systems shot down four guided aerial bombs, two HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 151 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 665 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 79,473 UAVs, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 24,776 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,588 multiple rocket launchers, 28,902 field artillery and mortars, 40,372 pieces of special vehicles.
