The police in the Khabarovsk Territory are conducting an investigation into fraud, as a result of which a resident of the village of Vanino was injured. A 30-year-old woman lost about 500 thousand rubles.
According to the victim, she received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an employee of the post office. The interlocutor stated that the woman needed to receive a letter, but before that she needed to clarify her personal information. The Khabarovsk woman dictated the requested information, after which she began receiving messages allegedly about hacking her personal account on the public services portal. This is reported by IA AmurMedia.
A "bank employee" contacted the woman. He convinced the victim that she needed to transfer her savings to a "secure" account, as well as apply for a loan. The Khabarovsk resident followed all instructions and lost a large sum.
The criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").
In Vladivostok, a 75-year-old pensioner lost 1.5 million rubles due to telephone fraud. The scammers convinced the man to transfer the money to a "secure" account.
