AvtoVAZ has launched a LADA Vesta service campaign due to steering wheel lock

AvtoVAZ has announced a free LADA Vesta service campaign. At the next scheduled or unscheduled visit to the dealer, the firmware version of one of the electronic units will be checked and, if necessary, updated. This was reported to Izvestia on August 25 by the press service of AvtoVAZ.

"The additional operation is related to the algorithm of actions when stopping and restarting the engine, which is fully described in the vehicle's operating instructions (you must wait 5 seconds between these actions). The updated version of the software completely removes the 5-second interval and allows you to start the engine immediately after stopping," the company said.

AvtoVAZ indicated that this campaign is not a revocable one, but a service one. The first involves mandatory repairs or other actions aimed at eliminating identified deficiencies, including potential ones. The second is the recommendation actions that are performed at the next regular check—in of the car for service to improve consumer characteristics, the company representative explained.

As previously clarified by the Lada portal.Online", the firmware of one of the Vesta units is required due to the fact that the steering wheel of the car may lock because the driver does not follow the operating instructions. It states that after stopping the engine, you need to wait at least 5 seconds to restart. If this is not done, the car will start and the steering wheel may remain locked. There should be no such cases with the new version of the program.
