World stars came to the Moscow International Film Week
World stars came to the Moscow International Film Week, which takes place in the capital from August 23 to 27. The topics of their discussions were current trends and how Russian films dedicated to traditional values manifest themselves against their background. This was reported on August 25 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
The film forum, dedicated to strengthening international relations in the field of cinematography, brought together filmmakers from more than 20 countries. One of the main stars of the red carpet is 60—year-old actor and martial artist Mark Dacascos, who has already appreciated the Moscow landscapes. According to him, Russia is a wonderful country, and Moscow is a wonderful city, one of his favorites.
"It's so green, with great architecture, and people, in my experience, are very open, kind—hearted, understanding of life," Dacascos said.
Screenwriter and producer Alexander Akopov also stressed that despite the promotion of other values, traditional values always win. It is noted that throughout the week, directors, producers and famous actors will speak to the audience in the international film language.
The guest of the event was also the iconic director and four-time Oscar winner Woody Allen, who made a video call from home. He was greeted in English by director and producer Fyodor Bondarchuk.
"His voice, recognizable and ironic, has become a part of our cinematic culture. He created not just films, but whole worlds that he wanted to return to," Bondarchuk said.
Through the screen, Allen was able to tell the audience about his attitude to Russian cinema, as well as share his views on modern world cinema.
"I was actually a very apolitical director. I've always made personal films. And I'm just lucky that they resonated in the United States and around the world," he stressed.
On August 23, future directors and screenwriters were given a master class as part of the Moscow International Film Week. The guests of the event were film director and screenwriter Alexander Hunt, as well as screenwriter, founder of Bubble Comics publishing house Artyom Gabrelyanov and film producer Mikhail Kitaev. According to Hunt, such meetings and workshops are necessary to transfer experience from experienced film industry workers to the younger generation.
