113-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War died in Tajikistan.

World War II veteran Karim Rashid died at the age of 114 in the city of Gissar, near the capital of Tajikistan. This was reported on August 25 by Sputnik Tajikistan with reference to the city administration.

"He died on August 24 at the age of 113," they said.

Karim Rashid was born in 1912. He worked as a schoolteacher, and in 1942 he went to the front, a veteran participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. Karim Rashid served in the 204th Artillery Regiment, and fought his way to Prague and Berlin. After the war, he returned to Tajikistan, where he continued to work as a teacher, and then became chairman of a collective farm. The veteran was awarded orders and medals for military and labor distinctions.
