- China Daily pointed out the need for Zelensky to find a consensus for negotiations with the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should focus on reaching consensus with Moscow on the main aspects of the conflict before planning a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on August 25 by the China Daily newspaper.
"Before Moscow and Kiev reach any agreement on the main issues, any meeting between Zelensky and Putin is unlikely to bring the desired result," the publication noted.
The authors of the material added that Kiev continues to take actions that complicate the dialogue. These are attacks on energy facilities that supply oil to Hungary and Slovakia.
"The US administration has failed to make significant progress on key issues related to conflict resolution, while Washington has benefited economically and militarily from the protracted crisis," the authors say.
Earlier, on August 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced attempts by Western countries to interfere with the Ukrainian settlement process. He also added that they are looking for a reason to prevent negotiations. According to Lavrov, Zelensky should repeal all laws prohibiting the use of language in Ukraine and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
