A court in the Krasnoyarsk Territory has sentenced a 66-year-old resident of the Kaliningrad Region, who was detained for attempting to sell large quantities of drugs. The pensioner received eight years in a general regime penal colony, the regional prosecutor's office reported. This was reported on August 25 in the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

According to the investigation, in July 2023, the man joined an interregional drug group through the Internet, which was engaged in the supply of prohibited substances to Siberia. He packaged bulk shipments of drugs and organized a network of caches in three regions: the Krasnoyarsk and Altai Territories, as well as in the Novosibirsk region.

"The court found the man guilty of attempted drug trafficking on a particularly large scale and sentenced him to eight years in prison," the prosecutor's office said.

During the searches, more than 33 kg of hashish and cocaine worth over 85 million rubles were seized from the detainee.

Earlier, on August 5, it was reported about the destruction of more than 3.5 thousand bushes of wild cannabis in the Khabarovsk Territory. The agency's report noted that narcotic plants were eliminated on a total area of 189 square meters. m. More than 600 bushes were burned on the spot, and the weight of the destroyed cannabis was 198 kg.
