The United Kingdom has extended the Interflex program until the end of 2026, under which the country conducts training for personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on August 24 on the website of the British government.

"Ukrainian soldiers will receive additional support from British military training experts, as on Ukraine's Independence Day, the government announces the extension of the UK's world-leading training program," the statement said.

It is reported that to date, more than 50,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been trained in the UK. At the same time, it is emphasized that according to this indicator, the kingdom is the leader among 13 other states that also train soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the same program.

During the time of the initiative, the approach to learning has undergone a number of changes. Previously, military personnel received basic combat skills in short-term courses, but now Interflex has been adapted to train "leaders and instructors".

"Along with the basic infantry course, two additional courses are currently being conducted. One of them trains soldiers in command at the level of platoon and squad commanders, and the other is an instructor training course," the publication notes.

Such cooperation has also led to closer cooperation between the United Kingdom and Ukraine in the field of industry, which "benefits British business."

The announcement of the extension of the initiative was made by British Defense Minister John Healey.

On August 21, Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, announced the risk of increased losses in the Armed Forces due to a reduction in American aid. He also concluded that Ukraine will continue to experience a shortage of resources until the end of the conflict.

Earlier, on August 19, the head of the diplomatic service of the community, Kaya Kallas, said that the European Union (EU) intends to train soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and strengthen the defense industry as part of the promotion of security guarantees for Kiev.
