Ukraine harmed itself when it attacked the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies oil to Ukrainian territory. This was announced on August 24 by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar.

"This infrastructure is very important to us, especially when we see that Ukraine is harming itself by risking being left without fuel," the TASR news agency quoted him as saying.

He stressed that Slovnaft, a Slovak oil refinery, runs on Russian oil and is a significant supplier of oil to Ukraine, providing 10% of its monthly consumption.

Blanard added that in January, the European Union (EU) promised to protect the integrity of the energy infrastructure. According to him, a letter was sent to the head of the diplomatic service of the community, Kaya Kallas, demanding that the obligations be fulfilled.

The Slovak Foreign Minister also said that he had discussed the strikes on the oil pipeline with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrei Sibiga.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced on August 22 that the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, had stopped working again after a Ukrainian attack on its infrastructure located on Russian territory.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump told Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that he was "very angry" over Ukraine's strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which Hungary receives oil from Russia.
