- The Russian Ambassador to Moldova pointed to European interference in the country's affairs
The European Union (EU) openly intervenes in Moldova's affairs, hiding behind the slogans of European integration. On August 24, Russian Ambassador to the Republic Oleg Ozerov told Izvestia.
"Well, of course, there is a lot of interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova. All this is covered up by good slogans about European integration. But in fact, we see unequivocal support for the ruling party from the ruling circles of Brussels," he said.
According to him, this is reflected in the allocation of grants to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which are mainly engaged in discrediting relations with Russia.
"They are not promoting friendship or good-neighborly relations, but hatred and aggressiveness in the relations between our countries. This is a real interference in the internal affairs of the country, and on the side of only one political force," he said.
As Ozerov noted, the desire of the opposition forces in Moldova to cooperate with Russia is criminalized, and the ruling regime, with the support of the EU, builds conspiracy theories on this.
"Yes, we are in favor of good relations with the Republic of Moldova and we do not see anything criminal in this. On the contrary, we believe that this is the national interest of both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova," he concluded.
On June 4, Moldovan MP from the Social Party Bogdan Cirda announced that President Maia Sandu was not seeking to solve the republic's problems, as she intended to leave the republic after completing her mandate and take up a post within the European Union (EU).
