Russia hopes that attempts by Western countries to interfere with the Ukrainian settlement process will not be successful. This was announced on August 24 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"They are just looking for a reason to prevent negotiations, and they want this to happen through no fault of their own, no fault of (Ukrainian President Vladimir Putin. — Ed.) Zelensky, who also balks and puts forward some conditions, demands an immediate meeting with (Russian President Vladimir Putin. — Ed.) by Putin regardless of anything," he said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, a fragment of the video was published on the journalist's Telegram channel.

The minister pointed out that Western countries are trying to disrupt the process that Putin and US President Donald Trump laid down during their meeting in Alaska on August 15, and their summit has produced good results. Lavrov stressed that Russia hopes to disrupt attempts to interfere with the negotiation process.

In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister added that Zelensky should repeal all laws prohibiting the use of language in Ukraine and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The head of the Kiev regime is trying to shift the focus from these two problems, but, as Lavrov pointed out, he will not be able to achieve this.

The Guardian newspaper reported on August 21 that the American leader intends to temporarily move away from the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in order to allow Moscow and Kiev to hold a bilateral meeting of the leaders of the countries.

At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Putin was ready to hold talks with Zelensky if all issues requiring discussion at the highest level were well worked out. Lavrov recalled that the Ukrainian leader has not yet revoked the decree, which explicitly prohibits contact with the President of the Russian Federation.

Former Italian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Michele Geraci told Izvestia on August 16 that Europe had effectively deprived itself of its role as a mediator in resolving the Ukrainian conflict when it sided with Kiev. According to him, the European Union is currently isolated and in a very bad economic and political situation.
