The ophthalmologist spoke about the acceptable reading rate without interruption
In order not to harm the eyes, it is necessary to read without interruption for no more than 20 minutes. This was announced on August 24 by Anna Klyueva, ophthalmologist at the Centerplus medical clinic of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the doctor, the visual load is mainly related to working nearby, so it is necessary to take breaks from working at the computer or when reading according to the "20-20-20 rule".
"Every 20 minutes of working at close range, you need to be distracted to look 20 feet (or 6 m) into the distance for 20 seconds. Or use the "mark on glass" gymnastics every 30 minutes of work for 30 seconds. To do this, go to the window, select an object at a distance of 6 m or more, look from the window to this object and back," the doctor explained "Газета.Ru ".
In addition, Klyueva stressed that people who work at close range from a computer or phone should use moisturizing eye drops to prevent dryness. The doctor stressed that in case of headaches, tension in the bridge of the nose or eyes, or lack of focus, it is important to consult an ophthalmologist.
Earlier, on August 9, ophthalmologist and CEO of VISTA Ophthalmology Center Anton Kazantsev shared useful habits for maintaining vision. He recommended using the technique of conscious blinking, especially when a person is at a desk at a monitor. Blinking slowly 10-15 times away from the monitor will help restore the eyes and prevent their dryness.
