Lukashenko congratulates Ukrainians on Independence Day
President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent a festive greeting to Ukrainians on the occasion of Independence Day of Ukraine. The text of the appeal was published on the official website of the head of state on August 24.
"Close coexistence has established indissoluble blood ties between our people, anchored by a common historical destiny, common Christian values and sincere friendship," he said.
Lukashenko recalled that peaceful life and harmony were "destined from time immemorial" for the two peoples. The Head of State stressed that Belarus is committed to a constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine.
"I wholeheartedly wish the citizens of Ukraine to find their own answer to today's challenges, and I wish your multinational country a peaceful sky, solidarity and truly independent development," the Belarusian leader concluded.
On August 22, Lukashenko noted that the Russian army was advancing along the entire front line of the special military operation, and the situation was dangerous for Kiev. He drew attention to the fact that Russia could advance at a faster pace, but it is taking care of people.
On the same day, he indicated that the republic would fight only in the event of an attack on it. According to him, Belarus has never set goals to attack Ukraine from the north. However, in the event of an attack on the republic, the country will fight with all possible and impossible methods.
