LDPR proposed a single standard of preferential travel for pensioners
On August 24, the LDPR faction proposed to establish a single standard of preferential travel for pensioners throughout the country.
The bill stipulates that a ticket on municipal and inter-municipal routes within the borders of the region will cost no more than 50% of the maximum fare, and travel on suburban trains — no more than 70% of the total cost.
"Old—age pensioners, as a large social group, find themselves in unequal conditions: in some regions there are regional benefits, in others they are absent or vary greatly. Our bill eliminates this injustice," reads the document provided to TASS.
The regions will coordinate the procedure for granting benefits with carriers in order to compensate for the loss of revenue of transport companies.
"We propose to make preferential travel for pensioners uniform and fair for all regions of the country," said Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Earlier, on August 20, State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab spoke about pensioners who will receive an increased pension starting in September. These include those whose 80th birthday will be held in August this year.
