Fever in a child does not always require the immediate use of medication. Marina Hokonova, pediatrician of the GUTA CLINIC, told about this on August 24. "Газете.Ru ".

"The temperature should be lowered at temperatures above 38.5–39 ° C, but it is important to take into account the child's condition. If the baby feels unwell even at lower values, the temperature needs to be brought down," the doctor explained.

To reduce fever, the specialist recommends using ibuprofen and paracetamol, strictly calculating the dosage according to the child's weight: 10 mg of ibuprofen or 15 mg of paracetamol per kilogram.

"Only an accurate calculation allows you to reduce the temperature safely. Ibuprofen can be taken no more than three times a day, paracetamol — up to four times with intervals of at least 6-8 hours," said Hokonova.

According to the expert, the temperature in children can last up to five days, and the effect of the drugs occurs after 1.5–2 hours. Parents should immediately consult a doctor if fever is accompanied by cramps, rash, vomiting, or if fever occurs in an infant under three months of age.

Earlier, on August 23, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, spoke about the new Stratus coronavirus variant in Russia. The number of cases of infection is growing.
