Power outages have occurred on the island of Gotland in Sweden.
A large-scale power outage has occurred throughout the Swedish island of Gotland. This was reported by Horizont Magasin on August 23.
"Electricity has been cut off all over Gotland. For some reason, the connection with the mainland was interrupted. Troubleshooting is underway, and at the same time we are making every effort to launch backup power on the island," Kalle Blomberg, manager of the local Geab energy company, is quoted in the publication.
He specified that it usually takes from 50 minutes to 1.5 hours to restore the light supply in such situations.
Due to the incident on the island, problems began in the operation of a number of enterprises. There were also interruptions in the water supply. According to a company representative, there is currently no suspicion that the power outage could be related to a possible sabotage.
2.5 hours later, it was reported that the electricity supply had been restored.
"Everyone's power supply has been restored, we are working as usual," Geab noted.
In December 2024, Cuba completely lost electricity due to the shutdown of a thermal power plant (CHP). The blackout occurred after the automation was triggered at a thermal power plant in the province of Matanzas. Restoration work began immediately after the shutdown.
