The King of the Netherlands accepted the resignation of Weldkamp

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands dismissed members of the government from the New Social Contract (NSC) party who asked for their resignation. This was reported on the Dutch government's website on August 23.

"After a cabinet meeting on the situation in Gaza, members of the government from the New Social Contract party decided to resign from the government," the statement said.

Thus, members of the NSC government, including Foreign Minister Kaspar Weldkamp and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Hanneke Burma, submitted their resignation to the king.

According to a government statement, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans will take over the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Weldkamp submitted his resignation on August 22. He stated that he could not agree with the rest of the members of the interim cabinet on the adoption of additional sanctions against Israel.
