In Tokyo, a man sprayed a tear gas-like substance at the Shibuya Hikarie shopping and office complex, injuring at least 18 people. This was reported by NHK TV channel on August 23.

According to preliminary data, two men quarreled on the seventh floor of the Shibuya Hikarie complex, as a result of which one of them sprayed the other with something similar to tear gas. The victim contacted the police. According to the Tokyo Fire Department, 18 people complained of feeling unwell and were taken to the hospital.

The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of causing bodily harm to one of the victims. The arrested man confessed that during the quarrel he got angry and sprayed pepper spray in his opponent's face.

Earlier, on August 3, in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, four workers died while inspecting a manhole. It is noted that the level of hydrogen sulfide at the accident site exceeded the norm by more than 15 times, and the workers did not have personal protective equipment.
