The possibility of importing humanitarian aid to Gaza was blocked for UNRWA
The United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said it was being blocked from importing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, despite overcrowding in warehouses in Egypt and Jordan. This is stated in the statement of the organization on August 23.
"The hunger in Gaza can be stopped. <...> UNRWA warehouses are overflowing only in Jordan and Egypt. <...> The State of Israel must allow us to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza," the agency's page on the social network X (formerly. Twitter).
They noted that there are enough food, medicines and hygiene products in the warehouses to fill 6 thousand trucks.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an offensive on Gaza City on August 20. It is located in the Palestinian semi-enclave of the same name. It was noted that Israel currently controls the outskirts of the city.
In preparation for the operation to capture the city of Gaza, the IDF called up 60,000 troops from the reserve and extended the service life of 20,000 reservists. The operation was called "Gideon's Chariots – 2".
