The operation to rescue climber Nagovitsina from Victory Peak has been completed
The rescue operation of Natalia Nagovitsina, a Russian woman stuck at Victory Peak, has been completed today. This was announced on August 23 by the head of the mountaineering base camp Dmitry Grekov.
"Since 1955, not a single person has been evacuated from there," he added.
The fact that 47-year-old Nagovitsina was stuck at Victory Peak was reported on August 19 in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. She broke her leg during the descent and has been at altitude for a week. On the same day, a group of rescuers was sent to the woman.
On August 22, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the country reported on the possibility of rescuers to reach the Russian woman on the same day. However, there was no connection with them at that time. Later, the operation to rescue Nagovitsina was forcibly suspended. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan suggested that Nagovitsina had died.
On August 23, the head of the rescue operation, Vitaly Akimov, said that the expedition members reached an altitude of 6 thousand meters, but the search for the climber had to be curtailed due to the poor health of the group leader - an old injury made itself felt in the mountains. It was clarified that rescuers were also looking for the Italian climber Luca Sinigaglia, who went to Victory Peak in Kyrgyzstan to get Medicine. He tried to help her, but died before reaching the place.
