Sanaviation conducted a unique operation to rescue a 38-year-old tourist after a serious arm injury while crossing a mountain river at the Voynov springs in Kamchatka. Rostec State Corporation announced this on August 23 in its Telegram channel.

"At the time of receiving the application, the weather was non-flying <...>. We studied the terrain and determined the approximate location of the tourist camp. They were in an inaccessible gorge resembling the mouth of a volcano, which is far from the best place to evacuate due to limited space and severe turbulence," said Alexander Pozyaev, the aircraft's commander.

An Mi-8 helicopter was used to rescue the victim. In order to land the aircraft 100 m from the camp, the crew members landed an airborne flight technician to check the area. The main task of the crew was to prevent the helicopter from sinking or overturning. After a successful landing, the rescuers continued their work: they picked up the victim, put him in the aircraft and safely left the scene.

The rescue operation took 1 hour and 15 minutes. The victim was promptly evacuated to the Kamchatka Regional Hospital, where he received qualified medical care.

Earlier, on August 21, two Russian climbers were evacuated from the Baichechekey peak in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. They are currently in the hospital of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, where they receive the necessary medical care.
