67 Russian citizens and their immediate relatives remain in the Gaza Strip.
To date, 67 Russians and their immediate relatives remain in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on August 23.
"As of today, 67 Russian citizens and their immediate relatives remain in the Gaza Strip," the ministry told RIA Novosti.
It is noted that these are Russian citizens who, for various reasons, did not leave Gaza during the mass evacuation at the end of 2023 after Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip. Then about 1.2 thousand people who wanted to leave it were taken out by planes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry is in direct contact with Russian diplomats in Palestine.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an offensive on Gaza City on August 20. It is located in the Palestinian semi-enclave of the same name. It was noted that Israel currently controls the outskirts of the city.
In preparation for the operation to capture the city of Gaza, the IDF called up 60,000 troops from the reserve and extended the service life of 20,000 reservists. The operation was called "Gideon's Chariots – 2".
