Ukraine may be defeated in the conflict if the initiative for a peaceful settlement by US President Donald Trump does not work. This assumption was made on August 22 by columnist Samuel Ramani on the pages of the British newspaper The Telegraph.

"While the prospects for an early peaceful settlement are fading, the situation on the battlefield is becoming more and more problematic for Ukraine," he said.

In particular, the author noted the liberation of the city of Chasov Yar by the Russian army, as well as the advance in the Red Army direction.

According to Ramani, Ukraine currently has two weak points: a significant shortage of manpower and "growing internal dissatisfaction with the command structure" in the country's armed forces.

On August 23, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes committed by the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, told Izvestia that European countries were showing a desire to disrupt the negotiation process regarding the conflict in Ukraine. He added that European representatives are trying to insist on positions that block the achievement of agreements.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
