It is important to strengthen not only economic relations with China, but also cultural dialogue, said Olga Basha, member of the Board of VTB Bank. She spoke at the Russian-Chinese Cooperation Forum in a New Era, which was held in Moscow.

"The cultural bridges that we are building between our countries unite us almost more than the daily growing trade turnover. The key to success is, among other things, understanding the cultural code of the partner country. This is the strongest foundation for trust," Basha said.

She recalled that the bank supports and implements cultural and business projects in China. "This year continues to delight us with new discoveries: The Bolshoi Theatre and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic are once again preparing their performances for the Chinese public. In addition, last year, together with the REC, the St. Petersburg State University Graduate School of Management and Harbin University, we launched the Doing business with China educational program. Its goal is to prepare Russian entrepreneurs for the intricacies of doing business with our Chinese partners," Basha said.

The Russian-Chinese Cooperation Forum in a New Era was held on August 22 in the Huaming Landscape Park in the Russian capital. The theme of the forum is "The development of trust—based cooperation mechanisms is the key to strengthening the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership."

VTB Bank has been operating in China for over 30 years. In 2008, it opened a branch in Shanghai.
