On Friday, August 22, the state prosecution demanded that Andrei Prikhodko, a boxer and militant of the Kraken assault unit (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) of Ukraine, be sentenced to 25 years in prison, accused of blowing up a car with Russian military personnel in the Belgorod region.

"According to the totality of the crimes, I ask that Prikhodko be given a total sentence of 25 years in prison, with serving the first five years in prison, the rest of the term in a high—security penal colony, with a fine of 700 thousand rubles," said a representative of the prosecutor's office in court, quoted by TASS.

The defendant was charged with a terrorist attack, trafficking in large-caliber and firearms, smuggling ammunition and explosive devices, and illegally crossing the border. It is specified that the attacker admitted his guilt and turned himself in.

It follows from the prosecution materials that Prikhodko's unit invaded the Belgorod region to commit terrorist acts at the end of May 2023. Then the militants, noticing a car with Russian soldiers, fired a hand grenade launcher and destroyed the equipment. At the same time, the Russian military managed to leave the transport on time.

Earlier, on July 5, 2023, the Russian military captured Prikhodko. Then he said that he joined the army himself after a misunderstanding with the coach. According to him, he was captured during a counteroffensive near Chasova Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). He was in one of the four infantry fighting vehicles (infantry fighting vehicles) that went to the positions of the Russian army. Squad commander Prikhodko was killed in the first minutes after the Ukrainian Armed Forces landed.
