Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov the title of "Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation." The relevant decree was posted on the Internet portal of legal information on August 22.
"For his services in strengthening the rule of law and many years of fruitful work, to award the honorary title of "Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation" to Igor Viktorovich Krasnov, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation," the document says.
Krasnov was appointed head of the Prosecutor General's Office on January 22, 2020. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC). According to Russian law, the Prosecutor General is appointed for a five-year term by the President after consultations with the Federation Council (SF).
On January 22, 2025, Putin reassigned Krasnov to the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation. The document entered into force on the date of signing.
