The Wagenknecht party called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia, which are devastating for Germany

Sevim Dagdelen, an expert of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (BSW) party, on Friday, August 22, called for the lifting of anti—Russian sanctions, which have a devastating impact on Germany, and called for the launch of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

"More and more new sanctions and the economic war against Russia are destroying not Moscow, but our own industry. Stop this economic suicide!" she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In addition to restoring Nord Streams, Dagdelen called on the German authorities to lower prices for energy carriers and "put an end to this madness" until hundreds of thousands of German citizens lose their jobs.

Earlier, on July 14, BSW leader Wagenknecht called for the restoration of Nord Stream in response to duties against Germany imposed by US President Donald Trump. At the same time, she stressed that Russian gas is cheaper and less harmful economically compared to the American resource.

Prior to that, on July 5, the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Fragalla, called for the resumption of Russian gas supplies and the restoration of the Nord Stream. In particular, he appealed to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to start a dialogue with the Russian Federation.
