- NATO will participate in strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the end of the conflict in Ukraine
NATO will actively participate in strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) after the end of the conflict. This was announced on August 22 by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, during a press conference in Kiev.
"As I have already said, this will be the second stage in building the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the <conflict>, moving forward. And NATO will actively participate in this," Rutte said, the press conference was broadcast on the YouTube channel NATO News.
The NATO Secretary General added that the alliance is already helping Ukraine not only to "continue the fight," but also to develop its armed forces. Rutte stressed that NATO participates in this process with pride.
Earlier, on August 21, American political scientist Malek Dudakov expressed the opinion that the United States would not assume any obligations to protect Ukraine within the framework of providing security guarantees. According to him, potential agreements will be vague.
Prior to this, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, stressed that Moscow would not accept the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine as security guarantees. He stressed that the leaders of the European countries continue to insist on the relevant idea.
