SBU accuses NABU official of trading with Russia
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has released materials on one of the detained employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). This follows from a message published on August 22 in the Telegram channel of the SBU.
According to the agency, one of the heads of NABU, along with his father, allegedly engaged in illegal trade with Russia. In addition, based on the case file, an employee of the anti-corruption bureau not only found contacts to work with the Russian Federation, but also sought investors for the business.
"We are talking about the sale of industrial cannabis, which was grown in the Zhytomyr region and planned to be sold to Russia (Republic of Dagestan)," the article says.
The SBU recorded correspondence between the father of a NABU official and an alleged representative of one of Dagestan's agricultural companies about the sale of industrial cannabis. The agency also claims that the official's father visited Russia in 2023.
The British magazine The Economist reported on August 1 that NABU employees, whose activities could not be stopped by the decree of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, which came into force on July 23, intend to strengthen investigations into the work of Ukrainian officials and will not take a step back in this matter.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia on July 26 that, in her opinion, there is no fight against corruption in Ukraine. She noted that such a process has never happened in Ukraine, and the NABU and the Specialized Anti—Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) are tools of the West that allow it to control Kiev.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
