The "gates of hell" will be opened for the radical Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip if it does not agree to Israel's terms of a cease-fire. On August 22, he wrote about this on the social network X (ex. Twitter) Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

"Soon, the gates of hell will open over the heads of the murderers and rapists of Hamas in Gaza — until they agree to Israel's conditions for ending the war, the main of which are the release of all hostages and the disarmament of [the group]," the statement said.

According to the defense minister, if Hamas does not agree to the terms, the city of Gaza "will become Rafah and Beit Hanoun," where the operations of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were conducted.

On the same day, Katz announced that Tel Aviv had approved an army plan to defeat Hamas in Gaza through intense fire, evacuation of the population and a ground maneuver. The military operation will continue until Hamas agrees to Israel's terms to end the conflict.

On August 21, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved plans to establish control over the city of Gaza, which is located in the Palestinian enclave of the same name. The IDF launched an offensive on Gaza on August 20. In preparation for the operation to capture Gaza, the IDF called up 60,000 soldiers from the reserve and extended the service life of 20,000 reservists.
