The restoration of oil supplies from Russia to Hungary, which were halted due to Ukraine's strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline, will take at least five days. This was announced on August 22 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

"With these attacks, Ukraine will cause damage primarily not to Russia, but to Hungary and Slovakia. The Druzhba oil pipeline plays a key role in the energy supply of our country, without it it is physically impossible to provide the country with oil. According to preliminary damage estimates, oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia will stop for at least five days," Szijjarto wrote on Facebook (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

He also called the threat to Hungary's energy supply unacceptable. Szijjarto recalled that in January, the European Commission agreed in writing to take measures against attacks on power lines responsible for the energy supply of EU member states. However, since the European Commission did nothing after the new Kiev attacks, Slovakia and Hungary sent a letter to Brussels.

"Today, together with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar, we sent a letter to High Representative Kaya Callas and Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen calling on the European Commission to take measures, as promised, to ensure that Ukraine does not attack the oil pipeline leading to Hungary and Slovakia," Szijjarto said.

Earlier in the day, Szijjarto reported on the third Ukrainian attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline on the Russian-Belarusian border. As a result of the attack, oil supplies to Hungary were stopped.

In addition, Hungary and Slovakia called on the European Commission to force Ukraine to stop attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline. The countries noted that without this pipeline, it is impossible to safely supply Hungary and Slovakia with oil due to physical and geographical conditions.
