More than 500 tricolors decorated the streets of Sevastopol as part of the celebration of the National Flag Day of Russia. They were deployed by specialists from Gorsvet and management companies, the press service of the city government reports.

"The Russian flag is the personification of Russia's centuries—old history, a symbol of its power and great victories," Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said, quoted by the news agency SevastopolMedia.

In honor of the significant event, a tricolor measuring 50 meters was deployed on Sapun Mountain. The Chief Rabbi of Sevastopol, Benjamin Wolf, expressed confidence that the satellite constellation would definitely see the state symbol.

National Flag Day in Russia is celebrated on August 22, this date is fixed. The holiday appeared relatively recently — in August 1994 — although the history of the Russian flag dates back more than 300 years.

Despite the fact that August 22 is not an official day off, celebrations are taking place on a large scale throughout the country. Concerts, rallies, flash mobs and contests are held on the streets of cities. Volunteers distribute flags and balloons in the colors of the Russian tricolor. White, blue and red flags decorate the central squares and facades of houses.
