The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has completed search operations in the Adyl-su gorge, and the bodies of two climbers who died on August 20 have been evacuated. This was announced on August 22 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kabardino-Balkaria.
"The work on the steep slope in rockfall conditions lasted for three days. Yesterday, the bodies of the climbers were evacuated from the crevice of Via Tau Mountain to a height of 3.2 thousand meters," the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that 30 rescuers participated in the search. Using a commercial helicopter, rescuers from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations evacuated the bodies of the climbers to the village of Verkhny Baksan and handed them over to the investigative task force of law enforcement agencies.
Climbers from Perm died on August 20 in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria at an altitude of about 3,700 m. They fell from a height in the upper reaches of the Adyl-su Gorge, Via Tau Peak, and suffered life-threatening injuries.
