A giant tricolor appeared on Titovskaya Hill in Chita on the eve of the National Flag Day of Russia. This is reported by the TV channel "Transbaikalia".
The symbol of the state, measuring 25 meters, was deployed by employees and veterans of the region's law enforcement agencies. It was made in one of the correctional institutions specifically for this action.
Before the flag-raising ceremony, a car rally was held with sirens on. Motorists drove from the bypass road through the city center to the Zheleznodorozhny district to the chapel on Titovskaya Sopka.
According to ChitaMedia news agency, the event was inspired by the regional department of the Federal Bailiff Service. Now it is held annually.
National Flag Day in Russia is celebrated on August 22, this date is fixed. The holiday appeared relatively recently — in August 1994, although the history of the Russian flag dates back more than three hundred years.
Despite the fact that August 22 is not an official day off, celebrations are taking place on a large scale throughout the country.
