Children were killed in an Israeli strike on a school in the Gaza Strip.
The children died as a result of an Israeli strike on a school in the Sheikh Radwan area, which served as a shelter for displaced people. This was reported on August 22 by Al Mayadeen correspondent Ahmad Ghanim specifically for Izvestia.
"These children are new victims of Israeli attacks on a school where displaced people were sheltering in the Sheikh Radwan area of Gaza City. Some children went out to get water, others were playing in the school yard when they were overtaken by Israeli rockets and artillery shells," he said.
The dead will be buried. The journalist noted that at the moment their bodies, as well as the injured residents of the Gaza Strip, are in the Al-Shifa medical complex. The beds of some of the wounded and sick are located in the courtyard of the building, as there are no empty wards and beds inside.
According to Ghanim, the humanitarian disaster is getting worse on a daily basis. He stressed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues bombing and bombings in various areas of the enclave.
"People are living in fear and anxiety due to the threat of deportation or attempts to oust residents of Gaza City to the southern part of the Strip. But despite the threats and the mortal danger, the Gazans demonstrate a firm determination to remain on their land," the correspondent added.
Earlier in the day, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced the approval of the IDF's plan to defeat the radical Palestinian Hamas movement in Gaza through intense fire, evacuation of the population and a ground maneuver. According to him, the operation will continue until Hamas agrees to the terms of Tal Aviv to end the conflict.
Prior to that, on August 21, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved plans to establish control over Gaza City. The attack on the city began on August 20. In preparation for the capture operation, 60,000 soldiers were drafted from the Israeli army reserve, and 20,000 reservists also had their service life extended. According to the Ynet portal, the plan runs until 2026.
