More than 20 foreign leaders will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency on August 22, citing a statement by the authorities at a briefing for local and foreign media.
"On August 22, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin announced at a briefing for Chinese and foreign media that Chinese President Xi Jinping would meet with more than 20 foreign leaders and heads of 10 international organizations on the banks of the Haihe River," the publication says.
The event is expected to be attended by the heads of Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Maldives, Nepal, Turkey, Egypt, Turkmenistan, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia and Vietnam.
In addition, the invitation was received by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The event will be held from August 31 to September 1. It is noted that this will be the largest meeting in the entire history of the SCO, as well as the fifth summit of the organization in China.
Earlier that day, it became known about the participation of the Chinese president in this summit. Xi Jinping will also hold a welcome banquet and bilateral events for the leaders of the organization's member countries.
On July 17, China expressed its willingness to cooperate with the SCO for peace in the Middle East.
