The U.S. Court of Appeals has overturned a potential fine of more than $500 million for President of the United States Donald Trump. This was reported on August 21 by the Associated Press (AP).

"The New York Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned a huge monetary fine imposed on Trump, and at the same time, by a small margin, confirmed the judge's decision that he had been engaged in fraud for decades, exaggerating his wealth," the publication says.

It is noted that the court decision prohibits the American leader and his two sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., from holding senior positions in corporations for several years.

According to the agency, in his social networks, the US president has already declared a "complete victory" in the case.

Last year, a lower court judge ordered Trump to pay a fine of $355 million due to alleged fraud with financial statements that he provided to creditors and insurers.

"Including interest, this amount has exceeded $515 million. Additional fines imposed on the heads of his Trump Organization company, including his sons, increased the total amount to $527 million, including interest," the article says.

Earlier, on January 10, the court refused to sentence Trump to a prison term or fine in the case of forgery of financial documents of the Trump Organization company when paying ex-porn actress Stormy Daniels. Judge Juan Merchant ruled to release Trump from prosecution in the case without any conditions. At the same time, the president did not react to the decision in any way.
