The doctor mentioned non-obvious asthma symptoms
Asthma is one of the most common inflammatory diseases of the human respiratory system. However, there are non-obvious asthma symptoms that people are often unaware of. About this on August 21, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by allergist-immunologist, Head of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Natalia Nenasheva.
"The difficulty is that there is no one specific symptom that would clearly indicate asthma, so it can be confused with other pathologies. Perhaps the most characteristic feature is wheezing," the doctor explained.
Asthma can also be caused by sneezing, coughing, sleep problems, reactions to pollen, and difficulty breathing. However, each of them will not necessarily talk exclusively about asthma. To do this, Nenasheva recommended monitoring the dynamics of the development of symptoms and contacting a specialist.
"A nocturnal, paroxysmal cough should be especially alarming. These symptoms should prompt a person to consult a doctor. A complete cure for bronchial asthma is impossible, so the goal of therapy is to achieve control of the disease," the specialist noted.
Earlier, on August 1, scientists announced an increased risk of asthma in infants due to food allergies. It was found that minors with food allergies in infancy were four times more likely to develop asthma by the age of six, compared with those who did not have such allergic reactions. The highest risk group included those with allergies that persisted until school age. In such children, a decrease in respiratory function was also more often recorded.
