The United States will not assume any obligations to protect Ukraine within the framework of providing security guarantees. This was stated by American political scientist Malek Dudakov on Thursday, August 21.

According to the expert, potential agreements will be vague.

"If we are talking about any specific security guarantees, then the United States will not assume any obligations to protect Ukraine in the future. That is, if they conclude any agreements with Ukraine, they will be so abstract and vague, implying that the United States may or may not protect Ukraine. But most likely they won't," the political scientist said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

According to Dudakov, the United States is ready to promise the Europeans air support if they can assemble their peacekeeping contingent and send it to Ukraine.

"But it is far from certain that this contingent will be sent somewhere. Not to mention that this is unacceptable for Russia. In this case, there is also no need to talk about air security guarantees from the United States," he concluded.

The day before, the Politico newspaper reported that the American side had notified its allies of its intention to limit itself to a minimal contribution to providing security guarantees for Ukraine, IA Regnum reports.

The corresponding plans were announced by Elbridge Colby, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs, in response to the demand of the heads of the defense departments of Great Britain, France, Germany and Finland to disclose information about the military forces that the United States is ready to send to help Ukraine after the conclusion of a possible peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow, RT reports.

Also on August 20, Bloomberg learned about the readiness of about 10 countries to send troops to Ukraine as part of providing possible security guarantees for Kiev. According to the publication, the meeting of the leaders of the European Union (EU) with Trump at the White House, which confirmed Washington's commitment to security guarantees, was a prerequisite for the relevant plans.

On August 19, Politico, citing a statement from EU officials, stated that Paris and London would experience difficulties in the event of a potential deployment of troops to Ukraine due to the weakness of the political leadership — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
