Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, during which he discussed the agreements reached between Yerevan and Baku in Washington on August 8 as part of the peace process. This was reported by the Armenpres agency on August 21.

"Grigoryan presented to his interlocutor the agreements reached in Washington on August 8 as part of the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that peace has already been established in the region, which meets the interests of all countries in the region," the statement said.

The Armenian official also told his Russian counterpart about unblocking the region's communication routes and opening up economic opportunities from the point of view of the interests of all the countries of the South Caucasus, adds "Газета.Ru ".

In addition, Shoigu presented the results of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Alaska and discussed further steps. Issues of Armenian-Russian relations were also touched upon during the conversation.

On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. Pashinyan then said that Yerevan and Baku had established peace by signing documents in the United States.

Later, on August 11, during a telephone conversation with Pashinyan, Putin expressed his readiness to contribute to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.
